On the Block

Who’s on the trading block for the Rays? Well, we will wait to see if anyone actually gets traded, but here is my speculation.

Andy Sonnanstine and/or Edwin Jackson: Both or one could be included in any trade we make. If we trade one, the other would be our FIFTH starter. They would be 3rd starters on most teams.

Ried Brignac: He would be the type of prospect most teams are looking for in a trade. He is a good option if we look to acquire a power outfielder. He is a Shortstop with great potential, but we don’t have anywhere to play him because Jason Bartlett already clogs that position.

Jeff Niemann: He is the type of major league ready starter that teams are looking for as a part of a trade. A combination of Niemann, Brignac and Sonny or E-Jax could bring back high value.

A shocker here:

Carl Crawford: he would be the main piece of any trade to acquire a power outfielder. He is the longest tenured Ray and a veteran in this teams aspect at 26. He has been a great piece of the puzzle but he does not have the power we are looking for. He would be replaced by Fernando Perez now and Desmond Jennings down the road. Jennings is almost a mirror image of Crawford with great speed. He has more power than Crawford, though.
