Not what Rays Fans want to hear. Scott Kazmir, who has had many fatigue issues, has decided to pitch for team USA in the WBC. He has been on a short offseason already and now will play in game situations. If he can stay healthy, this could be a good thing to help him get [...]

Rays Sign Balfour

Posted: 16th January 2009 by Devon Rogers in Uncategorized

Grant Balfour has signed a one year, $1.4 Million contract with the Rays to avoid arbitration. What we needed to hear since he will be the closer/ back of the bullpen guy for this year and potientially many years to come.

Rays Sign Gabe Gross

Posted: 14th January 2009 by Devon Rogers in Uncategorized

The Rays have signed Gabe Gross to a one year $1.255 Million contract. A bit pricey for a platoon/ bench player. I guess the Rays thought that Joyce would need more time to get ready. Gabe had a good year clutch wise and gave us a lot of memories, but his numbers did not show [...]

Not to worry, it’s only the alternate. It will debut March first against the Red Sox. Pretty good, I think. Not much has changed, only the blue trim, but it stands out more.

The Rays have designated Jae Kuk Ryu (Pronounced KOOK YOU!!!!) for assignment to make room for Gabe Kapler. The Rays have announced 620 WDAE as their Tampa Bay Radio affiliate. WDAE has a stronger signal strength, and that means we will get to see more of Whitney Johnson. Oh yeah, let’s not forget we hear [...]

Observations on the Hall of Fame (including Crime Dog)

Yesterday, Rickey Henderson (on his first ballot) and Jim Rice (on his last possible writers’ ballot) were elected for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Rickey, of course, needs no introduction.  He was one of my favorite players growing up–I still have a souvenir ball from when he broke the all-time stolen base record.  [...]

http://blogs.tampabay.com/rays/2009/01/rays-sign-kaple.html#comments The deal is for one year worth $ 1 million. Kapler hit .301 with 8 HR and 38 RBI’s in a part time roll with the Brew Crew last year. Kapler is a great hitter against lefties and will likely be used as a right field platoon with Matt Joyce. This may mean the end of [...]

Rocco’s Contract

Posted: 8th January 2009 by Devon Rogers in Uncategorized

Rocco is officially apart of the Pink Hat Nation. The details of his contract are a one year deal worth 500k. He will earn a $1.75 million bonus if he can stay on the active all season. I think Rocco deserves better, but I guess it is a home town discount.

Good bye Rocco Baldelli. Your time here has been fun. Now you can move on to our bitter rivals, the Red Sox. We will always pull for you, but we hope your team SUCKS. Yes, that’s right, Rocco is expected to sign with the Boston Red Sox. Rocco has been a great player and a [...]
