Rays News and Notes Feb. 3

Posted: 4th February 2009 by Devon Rogers in Uncategorized

The Rays have signed 33 year-old third baseman Morgan Ensberg to a minor league contract. He will likely be Durham’s starting third baseman and maybe a pinch hitter for the Rays. This would not surprise me. Rays have often signed people strictly for AAA filler/bench role and they turn into something great. Look at Carlos Pena.

Fanfest details have been released.

Fanfest this year is Saturday, February 14, Valentines day.

Admission and parking for the event are still free, but there is a $1o fee for anyone over 14 who wants to get autographs. Don’t worry the donation goes to charity and you only have to pay it once, then you get a wristband. Oh yeah, season ticket holders and kids 14 and under can get autos for free.

The AL Championship trophy will be on hand as well as the Rays TV and radio broadcasters, Joey Chestnutt Major League eater, and Buck Martinez, former ML catcher and TBS broadcaster.

The hours are 10 AM to 5 PM.

Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to get their pictures taken with a Rays player and more than 20 former Major Leaguers will be on hand to sign autographs.

The Rays have broughten back the clubhouse tours, so you can do that.

The Rays will also have National Anthem auditions.
