All Things Rays: 5/22

News and notes from 5/22:

  • Rays DL Percival and Kaz: could this be the last we ever see of Percival? Joe Maddon says “he would not be surprised” if Percy retires. Maddon also says they would revert back to the closer by committee that worked so well last year if he retired.
  • Ried Brignac and Dale Thayer suit up tonight, Thayer for the first time as a big leaguer. It will be interesting to see how soon Thayer gets work.
  • Mitch Talbot, Brian Baker, David Newmann, and Shane Dyer all start tonight for the Rays minor league affiliates.
  • Per the Heater: David Price is in line to take Kaz’s spot in the rotation Monday. Now all of you who called for his callup can be quiet. I still think Davis would be the better move. Price is coming off five perfect innings in his last start in Durham. Chances would be now that he will be on a big league club for good.
  • Tonight’s lineups vs. Marlins are as follows:

Rays

Crawford, lf
Longoria, 3b
Pena, 1b
Bartlett, ss
Gross, rf
