All Things Rays – What to Watch

Posted: 9th May 2009 by Michael Emdeyar in Uncategorized
  • National broadcast on Fox this afternoon.  Scott Kazmir has been bad in the first inning.  In fact, if you look at his performance for his first 15 pitches, he has walked 8 batters and has a 40.50 ERA when facing those batters.  So, how Kazmir does in the first should be an indicator of how the game will go.
  • BJ Upton missed the Boston series in April, but last time he met up with Jon Lester in Fenway, BJ went 2-3 with a home run over the Monster.  It would be nice to see him get his first HR of the season this afternoon.
  • After a hot start, the Durham Bulls are 3-5 in May.  Carlos Hernandez should get the start tonight for the Bulls against Gwinnett.  With Elliot Johnson out 4-6 weeks with a broken wrist and Adam Kennedy traded to the A’s, the infield is getting thin.  Ray Olmedo will see most of the time at 2B until Johnson returns.
