AAA – The Durham Bulls scored six runs on ten hits on their way to beating Columbus 6-3. James Houser started, but only went four innings in his second start of the season. He allowed two runs on three hits and three walks. John Jaso knocked in two runs on a 2-3 night. Justin Ruggiano and Ray Sadler also had two hits. Durham’s record improves to 13-7, good enough for first place in the IL South.
AA – Rhyne Hughes just keeps on hitting. The Biscuits first baseman slammed his 9th HR of the season leading Montgomery to a 9-2 win against the Mississippi Braves. Jeremy Hellickson was the starter and winner, going six innings and allowing five hits and two runs while striking out nine. JT Hall added a triple and HR and Desmond Jennings went 2-3 with a double for the Biscuits.
A – Left-handed starting pitcher Darin Downs continues to impress in Charlotte, throwing six shutout innings for the Stone Crabs. His record stands now at a perfect 4-0 on the season. Not much run support from the Stone Crabs’ offense, but two runs were enough to get by Fort Myers 2-1. C Nevin Ashley went 2-4 with a triple and run scored. Charlotte is now 12-8 on the season after losing their first three games.
A – Bowling Green lost 3-1 to the Augusta Green Jackets. Joseph Cruz started, going three innings in his first appearance since April 13, allowing only one run on three hits. Chris Andujar pitched the next four innings, only allowing two runs. But, he was tagged with the loss as the Hot Rods only managed one run on six hits. Isaias Velasquez and Henry Wrigley had two hits apiece for Bowling Green.
