AAA – The Durham Bulls scored three in the 7th inning to come back and beat Buffalo 6-4. Chris Mason, called up from Montgomery, made his first start this season with Durham and lasted only four innings, giving up four runs on eight hits. But, the Bulls got scoreless relief from Chad Orvella, Jason Childers and Dale Thayer to give the offense a chance. SS Brandon Chaves continues to make the most of his recent promotion, going 2 for 3 and driving in 3 runs, while John Jaso slugged his second HR of the season.
AA – Starting pitcher Brandon Mann continues his hot streak allowing just one ER no four hits in six innings to lead Montgomery past Jacksonville 6-1. Mann has allowed only three ER in his past three starts, a span of 19 1/3 innings. His record is now 4-2. SS Jason Bowers, 1B Rhyne Hughes and RF JT Hall each had a couple of hits for the Biscuits. Desmond Jennings added a double in five at-bats.
A – Charlotte used a 12-hit attack to beat the Tampa Yankees 8-2 Monday afternoon. The top four hitters in the lineup went a combined 9-20, including a 3-5 day by SS Shawn O’Malley and the 10th HR by 1B Matt Fields. Alex Cobb was the starter, going five innings and allowing just two runs on five hits. Cobb is now 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA for the season.
A – The Bowling Green Hot Rods capped a perfect day in the Rays minor league organization as they ran out to a 6-2 lead in the first two innings and held on to beat Rome 7-4. 1B Michael Sheridan was 2-4 with his sixth HR of the season and Kyeong Kang continued to hit well, also going 2-4 with a double and triple. Matt Moore was the starting pitcher, striking out six in four innings. Chris Andujar pitched the next four innings and was credited with the win as he allowed just two hits and a run. Marquis Fleming pitched a perfect ninth to notch his first save. Fleming has now recorded 12 straight outs in relief and has a 0.73 ERA on the season.
