AAA – Carlos Hernandez struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings for the Durham Bulls while giving up only one run on four hits. But, the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead. Dale Thayer gave up the eventual losing run in the eighth to see his record fall to 0-2. RF Rashad Eldridge and DH Chris Nowak each had two hits for Durham.
AA – Brian Baker’s hot stretch continues. He started for Montgomery and went six scoreless innings to lead the Biscuits to a 3-0 win. Baker has now pitched 23+ consecutive shutout innings dating back to April 29. Recently promoted Rayner Oliveros pitched the final three innings, allowing no runs and striking out six to earn the save. At the plate, Desmond Jennings drove in two with a double and a triple to lead Montgomery.
A – Daytona doubled up the Charlotte Stone Crabs 6-3 as Jeremy Hall was touched for eight hits and four runs over 5 2/3 innings. At the plate and in the field, the Stone Crabs struggled. They managed only five singles while making four errors on defense.
A – Bowling Green dropped a pair to the Lexington Legends, losing the first game 7-3 and the nightcap 9-6. In the opener, starter Frank De Los Santos allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and the Hot Rods couldn’t get back into it. Anthony Scelfo and Tim Bekham each went 2-4 in this contest. In game 2, the Legends scored a six-run sixth to pull away from starter Joe Cruz and the Hot Rods. Cruz pitched into the sixth, giving up five runs. At the plate, 2B Robi Estrada had a double and three RBI to lead Bowling Green.
