Rays Farm Report for Tuesday, June 2

AAA – Justin Ruggiano singled in the winning run in the 11th to lead the Durham Bulls past Toledo, 6-5.  The Bulls scored three in the 9th to push the game into extras when Chris Nowak hit a 2-run HR followed by an RBI double by Jon Weber.  Ruggiano ended up 3 for 6 on the night and Ray Sadler added his seventh HR of the season.  Matt DeSalvo started for Durham, going seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits.  Winston Abreu pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to record his third win of the season.

AA – Montgomery’s game with Jacksonville was suspended after 3 1/2 innings due to wet grounds with the Biscuits losing 5-1.  The game will be completed prior to today’s regularly scheduled game.

A – The Charlotte Stone Crabs broke open a  4-4 tie by scoring five runs in the ninth to beat Tampa 9-4.  1B Matt Fields hit a solo HR in the eighth to tie the game.  John Matulia and Shawn Williams each had 2-RBI hits in the ninth to put the game away.  Starter Jesse Darcy lasted five innings, allowing two ER on seven hits.  Then, Justin Garcia, Paul Phillips and Matthew Gorgen combined to face the minimum twelve hitters over the next four innings to keep the game within reach.  Phillips was credited with the win.  He is 2-1.

A – Bowling Green topped Lexington 5-3 behind strong starting pitching by Shane Dyer, who allowed just one run on four hits in five innings work.  CF Anthony Scelfo went 3-4 with two RBI to lead the Hot Rods offense.  Kyeong Kang continued to hit since his promotion, going 1-3 and improving his batting average to .310.
