AAA - Pawtucket scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Durham Bulls 2-1 Tuesday night, ruining another good start by Carlos Hernandez. Carlos went six innings, allowing one run on six hits. The losing pithcer was Jason Childers who allowed a couple of hits and the winning run in the 9th. 1B Rhyne Hughes made his Durham debut, going 2-4 with a double and C John Jaso hit his 3rd HR of the season.
AA - Brian Baker had another strong start for the Montgomery Biscuits, throwing six innings of five-hit, one run baseball, leading the Biscuits to a 6-1 win over Birmingham. Pat Burrell, making his second appearance with Montgomery, picked up a hit in three plate appearances. Fernando Cortez and Matt Spring each had two RBI to lead the Biscuits.
A – The Charlotte Stone Crabs finally got to play Brevard County after having the previous two games postponed by rain and the rest seems to have paid off for their starting pitching. In the first game of the doubleheader, the Stone Crabs won 2-1 as Jesse Darcy picked up his first win of the season after five losses. He pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing just the single run on five hits. RBI’s by LF Ryan Royster and C Christian Lopez provided the offense the Stone Crabs needed for the win.
In game 2, Charlotte pitching again allowed only one run en route to a 3-1 win. Jose Mejias, making his first start for Charlotte, pitched four innings, allowing four hits and the run. Justin Garcia allowed nothing in his three innings of relief to improve his record to a perfect 5-0. C Ian Paxton had a two-run double to pace the offense.
A – The Bowling Green Hot Rods got hammered by Greenville 12-0. Frank De Los Santos was touched for eight hits over five innings. After that, things went from bad to worse as reliever Neil Schenk gave up five runs in his inning followed Diego Echeverria who gave up three more runs in his inning of relief.
