Gregg Zaun was a guest on Toronto’s Fan 590 yesterday and couldn’t have been more positive on his short time with the Tampa Bay Rays.Â
“First class all the way. It was amazing to me to see the difference in the way the organization treats their players.”
And, he’s very optimistic about the Rays’ future:
I think the sky’s the limit for that organization. They’re young and they’re young in all the right places. They’ve got key veterans in the lineup…it’s an exciting team to watch.
Zaun has a mutual option for next year and is hoping to resign with the Rays in any role the Rays see fit. Personally, for a veteran catcher of that caliber, I would hope that the Rays can work out some type of deal to keep him in the clubhouse, even in a backup role. With Wade Davis, Jeff Niemann and David Price continuing to grow in the rotation, having that kind of experience on the team would be a real benefit.
