MLB All Star Game in St. Louis

The National Post runs down the Roy Halladay sweepstakes for this off-season.  I thought they pretty much got it right, up until I got to the part about the Rays.

First, it ranks the favorites to obtain Halladay as the Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers and Angels.  Yep, big-market teams again.  Then, the “possibilities” were listed as the Cardinals, Phillies, Yankees and Cubs.  That’s gotta sting some people in the evil empire.  Only “possibilities”?

Finally, there were the “dark horses”.  And, of course, among them were the Rays.  Roy Halladay lives in the Tampa Bay area and the Rays got their name in the game at the trade deadline in pursuit of the Blue Jays pitcher.  It’s here where the analysis takes a turn.  The column suggests that it would take David Price to get Roy Halladay.

Thanks for coming.  There’s nothing to see here.  Move along.  I’d at least entertain talk of a Wade Davis / Reid Brignac combo or something like that.  But, if the price is Price.  I’ll pass.
