Baseball Prospectus has recently came out with their top 11 Rays prospects. Here is the list:
Five-Star Prospects
1. Desmond Jennings, CF
2. Jeremy Hellickson, RHP
3. Wade Davis, RHP
4. Alex Colome, RHP
5. Matt Moore, LHP
Four-Star Prospects
6. Tim Beckham, SS
7. Reid Brignac, SS
Three-Star Prospects
8. Alex Torres, LHP
9. Nick Barnese, RHP
10. Wilking Rodriguez, RHP
11. Luke Bailey, C
They also mentioned Todd Glaesmann, Kyle Lobstein, Jeff Malm, and Jake McGee in the article as top Rays prospects. Baseball Prospectus and Baseball America are in agreement with their Rays top prospect lists in having Jennings, Hellickson and Davis as the top three. I agree with them. IMO, Jennings has the potential to become a superstar if his injuries don’t become a problem like they have in the past.
Hellickson also has the potential to be a great starter. The Rays just have to figure out a way to get him in the rotation either via trade or injury. We already know that Davis can pitch well in the Majors, so we just hope he will do the same this year.
